Hollywood actor Ben Affleck and rising rapper Ice Spice have joined forces in a brand-new Dunkin’ commercial that made its debut during the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards. In this catchy 31-second ad, Affleck and Spice engage in a playful mock brainstorming session as they introduce Spice’s latest creation, the “Ice Spice Munchkins Drink.”

Spice, whose real name is Isis Naija Gaston, explains to Affleck, who serves as a celebrity brand ambassador for Dunkin’, that she’s always been a devoted “Dunkin’ girl” and believes she’s the perfect candidate to represent the popular coffee and donut chain.

Affleck, ever the skeptic, responds with a deadpan “I’m not seeing it.”

But Spice has a clever response up her sleeve. “Ice Spice. My fans are the ‘munchkins,'” she declares, a reference to her 2022 Billboard-charting hit, “Munch (Feeling’ U).” It’s worth noting that the fanbase name was actually chosen by social media users on the platform X (formerly known as Twitter) in November 2022.

In the commercial, Spice presents her innovative idea for the Ice Spice Munchkins Drink, and Affleck, playing along, offers a rap bar of his own: “Here I am. I’m with Dunkin’. You go,” he quips.

The commercial culminates with a preview of the delectable Ice Spice Munchkins Drink, described as a “creamy frozen coffee” blended with Dunkin’s Pumpkin Munchkins Donut Hole Treats, topped with whipped cream, and drizzled with caramel, as per Dunkin’s official press release.

Fans of Spice have expressed their enthusiasm for this brand collaboration, noting that it’s a perfect fit given the rapper’s distinctive pumpkin spice hair color. “Pumpkin ice spice munchkins is so genius… pumpkin (her hair) spice (ice spice) munchkins (fan name)… einstein level,” one fan wrote on X, just days before the Dunkin’ commercial premiered.

The Ice Spice Munchkins Drink is now available for purchase at Dunkin’ restaurants nationwide, beginning on Wednesday.

This commercial, which has already garnered over 40,000 views on YouTube, was created by Artists Equity, a creative studio known for fostering connections between talent and production leaders. Notably, Ben Affleck co-founded Artists Equity alongside fellow actor Matt Damon and Gerry Cardinale, founder and managing director of the investment firm RedBird Capital Partners.

Beyond this commercial venture, Artists Equity has been involved in several exciting projects, including “Air,” a biographical sports drama film centered on the iconic Air Jordan sneaker’s creation, and three upcoming movies: “Unstoppable,” a wrestling biopic starring Jennifer Lopez; “The Instigators,” a heist thriller starring Matt Damon; and “Small Things Like These,” a historical drama featuring Cillian Murphy.

Ben Affleck, originally from Berkeley, California, has a career spanning over three decades, with achievements not limited to acting but extending to writing, producing, and directing, earning him two Oscars along the way.

On the other hand, Spice, hailing from the Bronx, New York, launched her rap career in 2021 while attending Purchase College, part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system. She has received accolades such as the “Rookie of the Year” award from Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players, the “Best New Artist” award from the MTV Video Music Awards, and the “Impact Award” from Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) R&B/Hip-Hop Awards.

This collaboration between a Hollywood heavyweight and an emerging rap star reflects a growing trend of partnerships between rappers and major fast-food chains to introduce limited-time menu items, bridging the worlds of music and cuisine.
